Darkness

It seems to me so often outlook is determined by attitude.  I heard a quote recently by a “McClaram” that said, “if the dark is not peopled with a loved face, our busy imagination will fill it with horrible ones.”
I know that is true as I have experienced what I consider to be unreasonable fear.  I do not know how far back from I have not liked heights.  But having had a stroke I have experienced fear of heights beyond anything I knew was possible. It effected big time my quality of life.  I was unable to enjoy views or be comfortable on a holiday balcony.
Naturally not all fear is unreasonable and there are some that are a fight or flight thing.  Yet I know there are others that are taken beyond what is reasonable to the unreasonable.  In such circumstances it is more than a good taking to I need, though that helps to some extent.  For me it is a prayer and a replacement thing.
I do not think the media helps at the moment.  It seems so much is designed to cause fear and it seems to me the end result would see me cooped up in a room not going out.
That to me is where the attitude thing comes in.  Personally, I refuse to accept these ties that bind.  It is a fact that something will get everyone one day.  I will not live in fear of that day but will live my life as best and as confidently as I know how.  There are experiences awaiting me that I will only have by stepping out into the unknown.  Not the blind unknown but what was unknown until some blazed a trail.
It was Martin Luther King Junior that said you need the darkness to see the stars.  I don’t like darkness for sure, but there are some things I see in the darkness that are not visible in the light.
