Dance

“It’s not in how you move but what moves you.”  I like that.  It gives me hope.  I know I have some moves.   Like from here to over there.  But most of my moves are on the inside.  And I am not talking about the regular daily movement.
I do like to dance, and I am a really good dancer on the inside.  On the outside it is more like a blooper video.  The saying says, “Dance like no one is watching.”  Well no one better be watching.  Better for them.  Better for me.
Put it this way, my dance moves are most likely to cause people to think they need to rush to my aid.  I just told Merril I am writing about my dance moves.  Her response?  “You got some?”  I know in my head I have plenty.
It seems the less required the better I am.  I think I can do the “sprinkler.”  It just needs me to move my arms.  Otherwise my methodology is more like a guy described when viewing someone from afar who walks into a spider’s web.
If just wanting to be a good dancer was all that was required, I would be a really good dancer.  Yo.  I’d have all the moves.  I see them dancing on tv and I am not jealous.  I am naturally this green colour.
Still when I know no one is watching I dance.  A dictionary might use a different word to describe the jerking movements, but I know what it is.
I think there might be something in this dance like no one is watching thing.  As Ali said, “The fight is won or lost far away from witnesses - behind the lines, in the gym, and out there on the road, long before I dance under those lights.”  Far away from witnesses.  Yes that is what I am doing.  Good plan.  After all Alexander Pope said “…Not to go back is somewhat to advance, and men must walk, at least, before they dance.”  Walking I can do.  I am stuck on the somewhat though.  To me, if I’m treading water in a stationary position, I am still going backwards if the tide is going out.
Nietzsche said, “He who would learn to fly one day must first learn to stand and walk and run and climb and dance; one cannot fly into flying.”  I think I’ve got the standing and walking part, but the dancing might be a bridge too far.  And flying.  I don’t want to go there.
Perry Como gives me hope though.  “For the amount of talent I had - and I couldn't dance, act, or tell a joke - I enjoyed a tremendous career.”
It is probably best for everyone I do what I gotta do, and stick with my strengths.    Might go with that I think. Ps 149:3, Ecc 3:4, Jer 31:13
