D-Day

​Someone once said, and I have made it a bit of a mantra, “people generally do not have a problem, they have a decision to make.”
That is the way I am looking at things these days.  What I am trying to do is to stick with things based on decisions I want.  I know once upon a time I would do as I pleased.  Even if something was destructive for me I would go with it based on one thing.  I felt like it.  It did not influence me that the behaviour I was perusing might be contrary to what was best for me.  One of the worst parts of that was it was also contrary to the best interests of others.
In other words it was selfish and destructive.  I do not mean I refrain from all things.  I am a great believer in moderation.  There are things I am ok with that others may set up a law against.  I do not adhere to that. 
There are activities I will not get involved in as I have been warned to stay away from such things.  Sorta like boiling hot water.  It is not debateable if it will burn me.  It is a given.  A known fact.  Something that has been proven by the results.  But there are other things some claim as stumbling blocks that are not in my mind that way.
But if something is a problem to someone I will not engage in it in their presence.  I really do not want what I am ok with to trip someone else up.  Just because a problem is not mine I will not engage is something in front of someone else who has that problem.  That to me is not a caring attitude.  To me it matters that another can peruse a worthwhile cause without me hindering them in any way.
Really I have my own battles to fight.  I know I do not need another flaunting something that may be ok for them but is a problem for me.  My thinking is we are all in this together.  I want to help (as I know I need help) rather than hinder.
