Covid

I am writing this early as I do not know how I will be tomorrow morning. I had said to Merril I intended to work in the yard today. Merril was to see her dad who is not well.

But I felt unusually lethargic. I wondered if it was just me not feeling like I wanted to work in the back yard. I am a great believer in passion following commitment and recognize that sometimes not feeling like something is just something to be overcome and the passion is reignited.

I have had blood tests in the past and so often the doctor tells me there was evidence of an infection. I was surprised that the doctor agreed with me that I seem to carry around an infection.

I actually think it has helped me ward off the worst of things. I rarely get really sick. The last bad flu I had was in the 1990’s. A guy in the train next to me going north was as sick as a dog and I ended up that way and spent the next while in bed.

I recognized the onset of something. I had a headache which is unusual for me. I had had a sore throat off and on as well as unexplained pains. I decided a covid test was in order. Low and behold it was positive. I had avoided it all through the pandemic even though Merril had had it twice. This time the roles are reversed. I have it and she does not.

During the pandemic at a time when we could go out, I really wanted to go to table tennis. I spoke to a friend from overseas who told me his brother had died, and his brother’s son was in hospital fighting for his life. Another mate told me his mum was the only one not taken out in a body bag in her ward when she got it. Some seem to get it really mild and some full on. It is a great unknown.

I have spent most of the day in bed and drugged up. It feels really mild at this point. These days people do not even need to isolate. I am at this point to be on the safe side. This is one thing I am not into sharing.

Added to Merril’s dad not being well, and me getting covid, it has rained cats and dogs. Merril intends venturing out tomorrow. It was to be today, but things seemed to conspire to make it tomorrow.

Merril has looked after me well. I am thankful she is around and knows her stuff. These things come to pass, and it will pass, but in the meantime I am doing what I can to minimize its impact.

(PS Tuesday am. Thankfully mild. Sniffles, cough, fever, dodgy throat, aches and pains.)
