Covid

Tis the season to be jolly.  Well, all I know is things are jolly different around here.
Covid has visited this house.  Here I was with a headache for no reason, unbelievably lethargic, vision going awry, and a stitch for no reason.  I thought now this is a time to get some sympathy.
But Merril felt achy and did a covid test.  Positive!  I did one.  Negative!  A positive test trumps a negative test every time.  It is the day after the positive test, and I must admit Merril is sicker than me.  Maybe my lethargy was just wishful thinking.  But I am going with it.  It is just the excuse I have needed to do nothing.  I would stop and smell the roses only a bee is likely to sting me on the nose.
I actually really do not want covid.  For some it is like just a cold while others get it real bad.  Merril had it like a week ago and it was bad.  This time it is just like flu symptoms, and we hope it stays that way.
My immunity does seem pretty good.  My doctor reckons I have a mild infection permanently and that helps with resistance.  The last bad flu I got was over 25 years ago.  I am not saying that is the way it will be.  I do not know what the future holds.  All I know is so far so good.
It sure does wreck plans though.  We know there are no restrictions now just recommendations.  We choose to follow recommendations.  We are determined not to expose people to stuff unnecessarily.  Merril is not seeing anyone and even though I am negative I am limiting my mixing as much as possible.
But today was to be Christmas day with my brother on the coast.  Judging by last year he would have done some great preparation.  In fact, when we rang to confirm what he were bringing, he had got it all.
We were really disappointed not to be able to go.  He is getting on and I am sure he would not want us to expose him to it and we did not want to.   So, we have put it off to the new year some time.  Hopefully all has worked itself out by then.
There were other events we were to be involved in, but we have put some off and adopted a wait and see attitude for others.
So many have gone through this.  It amazes me how originally it was out there and then it was getting closer and closer.  Still, I have much to be thankful for.  No matter how bad things may get, I will try to remember that.
