Coup

I think if I was going to stage a coup, I would need to know it was going to be successful.
I do not know that I have ever heard someone in power say “Bad coup person BAD.  Go home and make sure it does not happen again.”  People in power tend to deal with trouble makers – permanently.  In Russia at the very least they went to Gulags.  In China it was Education Camps.  In Nazi Germany it was the Final Solution.  Here we deport them or thrown away the key.  In Russia at the moment, it seems to be that even perceived threats are dealt with.  People have been murdered, or been thrown in jail permanently, on seemingly trumped up charges.  Some places today summarily deal with opposition.  My “day in court” is just a dream.
That is why I would like to know my coup would be successful.  The price for me and my followers would be too high if it was not.
There are places though, where it seems a coup is not even worth considering.  In those places, the leader has set themselves up with the support of those with influence and power (the guns).  It seems with those people on my side, I can do what I want.  It is important they are on clover, and would not want to disrupt the status quo.
I need, as much as possible to have all the facts.  I do not want to be in the middle of a coup and say “oh, I did not see that coming.”  I do not want to cling to a lie or a half truth.  I don’t want the foundation for my coup to be legitimately dismantled.  I would not like what I was holding to, to be proved to be only part of the matter.  Or to have it shown that what I believed, was incomplete, and there were legitimate reasons for actions.
Just because I may not like the one in power, does not make them wrong and worthy of replacement.  To me, not agreeing with someone, does not make bringing them down right.  I reckon swapping on the basis of disagreeing only would make for a never ending cycle.  Thankfully, I get my chance at the ballot box.  In some places there is no chance.
I need to be careful that I am not just on a power trip, and like is replaced with like.  There is a phrase I am really fond of, and I have seen it time and again.  The phrase is “he who lives by the sword will die by the sword.”  So often in politics it seems someone gets power through a coup, and is dislodged the same way.
My coup (I need to give it a name, as sudden changes like this seem to be named ie the Velvet Revolution.)  My coup, or the “Yeah Right” movement as it has become known (by me), would need to be based on having the whole picture, known facts, and legitimate injustices.
If I could not establish that, I may as well submit to the powers that be, and respond positively to “isn’t there something you should be doing?”
