It seems to me there is a bit of skulduggery going on.
I am told that to fix this, I need to do this.  What I am told I totally agree with.  It is my desire and pretty well anyone’s.  The trouble is, I am never told what that solution will cost.  I am told only what the solution is, and am treated as some sort of bad person if I bring up what any reasonable person will bring up, when weighing cost against benefit.
When I am to purchase something substantial, I am encouraged to buy Australian.  It is my belief that most Australians like to, and sometimes even a little more that they could pay will be paid, for the Australian product.  I feel good in that I have supported local and provided for perhaps a neighbour.
I will draw the line though if I have a choice of products and the Australian one is quiet a bit more than something similar.  I want to buy Australian, but will not when my bottom line is substantially affected.  I weigh up the cost and make my decision in my best interest.  The portion I save can go towards something else.
For me, as in so much, it comes down to cost. Should it be an undeniable fact that purchasing say a non-Australian product will be far beyond any savings I will make then I will buy the Australian.
But what I am seeing happen right now is something that I read a while ago.  It said the rich will get richer, and the poor poorer.  In a sense any price rises are water off a ducks back to a rich person.  They can afford to espouse what appears to be a noble cause, knowing that to do so is a minor inconvenience rather than a show stopper.
Yet for others every dollar counts.  I wondered how pensioners were getting on when prices went up previously.  It was like income was static, but expenditure rose in necessities.  Today there is talk about price rises across the board, and again I wonder how people will get on and if they will need to forgo necessities just to stay afloat.
I see it in so many arears.  A young home salesman was walking the streets recently.  I was in the yard and had a chat to him.  What he described as ideal was totally reasonable to me, but my heart went out to him as I felt things are very much stacked against him.
I would like to be a responsible citizen.  Yet I feel making decisions based on one sided information is unreasonable.  I want to make informed decisions.  Truth does not fear scrutiny and transcends agendas.
