Containers

I don’t get it.  I don’t get lots of things, but there is not much I lay awake staring at the ceiling thinking about.  Containers is one of them.  I have written about them before, but this is new.  I am just not convinced that having more containers will lead to world peace.
I love containers as much as the next person.  Well maybe not as much as some of the next person.  I reckon obsessed would be a better word to describe them.  Containers are good for …, then there is…., not forgetting ….. .  Oh I know, putting food in.  They are also good for putting nails in and marking the container “nails.”  Unless the container is marked “nails,” then as sure as eggs it will find its way back into the kitchen.
I am a guy and a pseudo handyman.  A crack in a container can be fixed with tape.  So can 400 cracks.  I am concerned though that things are not built to last these days.  As soon as the warranty expires the container is likely to disintegrate and we will need to buy a new one.
I am having trouble seeing Allan Kolar giving the Finance report on the ABC news showing us a graph with two lines.  One line for consumer confidence and the other for container availability.  They would track together.  Consumer confidence would be high when container availability was high, and low when containers are in short supply.
Containers being in short supply would not stop the desire to have them.  The price of containers would just go through the roof.  If everyone in the world was given an equal number of containers right now, probably 90% of them would end up in the hands of 10%.
I just can’t see Allan Kolar sharing what has been happening on the stock market and saying, “Contained” went up 1.9% while “Enclosed” surged 7.5% on reports it was building a new container factory in Ethiopia.  Microsoft lost 2.3% because it has nothing to do with containers.
I don’t reckon the Australian dollar being at the mercy of containers would be a good thing.  I think the Australian dollar would fall in value because our research and development of containers is so low.  We import most of our containers.  What would make matters worse would be the container trade war between the US and China.  We would end up paying more for containers than we need to.
Still, all that is speculation right now.  I can go to any supermarket, discount store or cheap shop and find the container section.  They are easy to find.  I just head towards the angelic choir and the section with the light emulating from it.
My problem has always been choice though.  There are just so many of them.  I just want a container that is a container.
