Computers

Computers.  It seems people either love them or hate them.  One thing is for sure though. They are way more sophisticated than they used to be.
A friend of mine got one that had a 450mg capacity.  I thought why on earth would you need that?  Now that is small.  Another person I know, visiting the British Isles, looked around and had a strange sense of da ja vu.  They thought “I’ve seen all this before.”  It turned out they had seen what they were looking at on their computer.
I guess simulating reality wearing a mask would be fun.  However I cannot help having a sense of unease when I see someone in a mask, who is totally unaware of their surroundings.  Anyway it does look odd to me as an observer.  The player sees nothing except what is in the mask.  It reminds me of what someone said about how we look to a person observing from a distance, when we walk into a spiders web.  We, for no apparent reason, do a strange little dance and generally jump around on the spot.
We used to play computer golf.  Well, others were into it a lot more than me.  I did play it on occasion though.  It is probably way more sophisticated these days.  There was a clock like thing that was used to determine the swing.  The aim was to click at a certain point for the ball to go straight.  We could also control the speed of the swing.  It really was the only way I could get to play some of the world’s most famous courses (One of the things I did regret when I visited the US, was not playing a golf course.  At one place, there was one nearby.  If I had my time again, I would do it.)  We would have people come to visit to play golf on the computer.  I tended to loiter around, while others played.
Nowadays I use my computer for spreadsheets, word, web building, looking up and posting on Facebook and emailing.  I do admire Australia Post. I think they saw the writing on the wall, and that people were sending many less letters and were emailing instead.  Australia Post seem to have gone into another market and they seem to have been doing well.  Some companies did not adapt as well and are now but a memory really.  I think of Kodak.  When things went digital they did not seem to go with it. They are still around, but now they are a niche thing, and not a trend setter.
Computers.  I personally love them, but only as a very useful tool.  For me, nothing can replace interacting with people.
