Computer Program

It is amazing how what someone says leads to thoughts along a certain line.  I actually like it, and it is a thumbs up for listening.  What people say, can lead to all sorts of places I did not have in mind to go before then.
I got to thinking about computer packages of all things.  The good thing about purchasing them is that everything is provided for their successful use.  When I purchase a program, it is with the expectation it has all I need.  If it exceeds my expectation well and good.  But I am miffed if it fails to meet the expectation I had that was reasonable, based on the claim.
Sometimes for me it is just a learning curve.  Something may be required that I am unfamiliar with.  It is not designed to stop me, but there is a good chance I will need to grow in my knowledge to get past it.
One of my pet irritations is when I come across a technical matter and I am stumped.  I spend three hours trying to figure it out. I get older.  If my hair were not already grey, it would go grey.  If my hair were not already falling out, it would fall out.  Finally, I ask someone about it, or think to google it, and it is like a three click solution that takes 15 seconds at the most.  It is great to be able to move on, but life has gone by in the meantime.
I guess it is one of the reasons I find it equally frustrating when someone declares something is a showstopper and gives up.  Often it is more that the person is unwilling to see it through, and at the first sign of something being harder than thought, gives it away.
It seems to happen a lot.  I think it is sad.  While they have gotten to maybe more than what they had, potentially there was so much more.  To me it is like an adventurer giving up at the sight of another hill to climb, when what they were seeking was over that hill.
For me there can be seemingly many legitimate reasons to give it away and take my bat and ball home.  Yet it really is like that computer package.  All I need is available.  That may not mean that all there is, is a piece of cake (speaking of cake, I just had some birthday cake.  Sweet but nice).
Breakthroughs though are worth it.  The toil and sweet is put in perspective by a worthwhile goal being achieved.  The adventurer may come across a vast and fertile land.  I may come across a large place that is like it was made for me.
The thing is “I will never never know, if I never ever go.”  It seems the worst thing I can do is set artificial limits.  The downloaded computer program often has a heap of attributes I do not know how to use right now, but that does not mean I will never know.  Lacking understanding now need not mean I am doomed to always lack understanding.  Perhaps it is just that it will not appear as daunting when I grow into it.
