It is interesting what can affect me.  I just heard someone say, “it is not what you have in the silo that shows your future, but the seed you have in the ground.”
I do like that.  One of the reasons I do, is that it is not my past that measures my success but the steps I take now for my future.
I am not one of those who can point to my wealth, or some treasure set aside for a rainy day.  I am content with what I have, but I would not be considered wealthy by many.  Having stuff set aside is good in my eyes, as long as I hold it loosely.  A song I love says, “this skin and bones is a rental.”  Security to me is measured in its long-term value.
Something in my silo lets me know what has been, but not what will be.  It has been a bit of a theme of mine, but will I still have something if all disappears in an instant?  I remember hearing a Ukrainian say one night we went to the football and the next day we were at war.  When countries nationalize industries those that paid for the industry and reaped its benefits are often cast to one side.
So often I have seen people lose what they had in silos and sow again in hope.  For me it is a case of sowing rather than keeping.  All I grab from the silo is things I think are important for me now.
What I really like though is putting seed into the ground is a thing that can be undertaken early or later in life.  In the silo, it can do nothing.  In the ground, it can do something.  I may only have a little in the silo, but if it stays there, I may go hungry.  If I plant it, and tend to it, I can have enough for myself and others.
To me I can only sow too late if I wait too long.  A little now becomes a lot when tended and looked after.  It is up to me to choose what to sow.  I want what I sow to be always useful.
