Well today is the first full day of something different.  We have a billet staying for a month. He is from Nepal. That in itself is different. Nepal has a population of over 30 million which is more than Australia but Nepal is 53 times smaller.
Wikipedia gave interesting information concerning Nepal. “Nepal has a diverse geography, including fertile plains, subalpine forested hills, and eight of the world's ten tallest mountains, including Mount Everest, the highest point on Earth. Kathmandu is the nation's capital and its largest city. Nepal is a multi-ethnic, multi-lingual, multi-religious, and multi-cultural state, with Nepali as the official language.”
It is mostly a Hindu nation with Christianity comprising 1.76% of the population.  According to my calculations that represents about 550,000 people.  It is interesting to me though how the Christian family is big and diverse, but it does not matter where someone is from, I immediately can tell we worship the same person.
Merril and I spent a good bit of Saturday preparing the place.  I actually mowed the back lawn thought grass is hardly growing at the moment.  We also went over to a place we rent out. Our reasons for doing so were several.  We wanted to get a rental agreement signed for the next year.  I also wanted to see the guy servicing our air conditioners there. We managed to do both.
It was not long after we got back that our billet arrived.  We ended up doing something I had no concept of at the start of the day.  We visited an Asian food shop.  There is one in Morayfield.  We wanted to make sure our billet had food he wanted and was used to. Turns out Nepalese food is similar to Indian food. Merril is going to learn how to prepare some Nepalese dishes.
If I ever needed reminding I am getting older I got it.  Our billet said I reminded him of his dad.  He showed me a photo.  Yep, I am like his dad.  And though the guy is 35, his dad still his dad is younger than me.
I knew the day would be different, but I do not think I knew how different.  I am pleased though, and I do think it is going to be good.
