Clocks

Clocks. We seem to have them everywhere. It is probably just as well, as I think I refer to a clock more than anything else.
We have one in the shed, two in our enclosed outdoor area, one in the kitchen, one in Merril’s study and two in the guest room. It sorta helps though if clocks work.
We did have one in what was our pool area. We gave that place a nautical theme, for obvious reasons. The clock did not work though. We no longer have it and have determined another area will have a nautical theme. We have another shed there now. It does not have a clock.
The clock that was in our pool area was taken to the shed and although it was given a new lease on life (ie a new battery) it still did not work. We replaced that clock with another. It worked for a while. Now when we are playing table tennis, we look at the clock on our phones. Often my opponent says I need to go at 6pm. Sometimes I am going out and can play to 6. At other times there is no time constraint, and we play until we are ready to drop.
We have two clocks in our outdoor area. One I refer to by looking left (it is behind Merril) and the other Merril looks at. The one Merril looks at used to be higher but it was too glary. It is now lower and a bigger one. It losses time. The one I look at gains time. At the time of writing I have to calculate the time by taking off four minutes. That number rises.
The one in the kitchen is real handy. I can see it from where I sit to watch tv. If a program starts at half past something and is an hour long, I know that after 10 past, the drama will reach a resolution. Along with the multitude of ads if it is a crime drama, the first 20 minutes is normally the crime and action, the second twenty is often the 2nd crime and action, and the third 20 is resolution and action. Sad really that I have seen that.
Having a time table that originates in a day light saving time confuses things though. I need to work out when something is likely to be on.
The one in Merril’s study is there to do what it is supposed to, and that is tell time. It does it well and reliably.
One in the guest room is a spare. It is real pretty and small. It was in our outdoor area, but was too hard to see. The other is there at our guest’s convenience.
I think one in the main bedroom would make the picture complete. Often the tv needs to be turned on to get the time.
They say “time and tide wait for no man.” (They should substitute person for man.) It is true though. I am older now finishing this blog, than I was when I started. A clock would tell that, as may the weathering of the features of my rugged good looks.
It would probably be more reliable to refer to a computer clock rather than one of ours though.
