Change

I really do not know what the person was thinking who said, “a change is as good as a holiday.”  A change is not nearly as good as a holiday.  For me the closest it comes is lifestyle changes.  Perhaps the change of job.  Something new and ongoing.
But I like the anticipation of an adventure where I can do what I feel to do, rather than what my boss who may be for or against me says.
But the holiday sort of change only comes around occasionally.  In my experience change goes on all the time whether I like it or not.
Probably the biggest forced change in recent times was the isolation of covid.  I so did not expect to need to stay home and separate from others.  Many had big plans for the isolation period.  It was seen as a time where things could happen that had been “to do” things but somehow despite their importance, had never been gotten around to.
For some, things were achieved and progress and personal development happened.  For others the time was all too much.  Undesirable characteristics ran rampant.  I got some things done around the home that needed doing, but on the whole I was glad when things returned to a semblance of normal.
But really it was only a semblance of normal.  The world had changed, and I would never return to the way things were.  I did not want them too really.  There were thing done certain ways, which, in hindsight, were not done the right way.  Covid allowed for a reset.
It ties in big time with the way I see thing anyway.  Goodness knows where I got the saying but I am very much an, “eat the worms and spit out the germs” sort of guy.  There are things I like that I want to keep, and there are other things I do not want anything to do with now and perhaps ever.
So for me the pandemic brough change.  No holiday mind, but a chance to reset.  A chance to embrace the worthwhile new and discard the encumbrance old.
It seems no matter how I look at it, the world has changed, and I will never go back to the way it was.  To me it is making the most of things despite what I see.  As always it is up to me what I make of the way things are now.
