Change would be good but...

There is something in the James Clear email I like.  While in one sense it is seemingly not terribly profound, in another I reckon it is profound in its simplicity.
"A good life is one in which things do not go perfectly, but you find a way to have a good day regardless."
It seems to me so easy to get caught up in wishful thinking and to forget that there are things about that can make life difficult – like cancers and accidents and feeling blah and twisting the ankle and growing old.  These things are out there, and a fact of life.
To me they are par for the course.  I do all I can to avoid things, but unfortunately what I do, is, at times, not enough.  There are things which in the ordinary progress of life, are out to get me.
I had a rash which I reckon would have got me.  It was spreading.  I went to hospital with it and it took a specialist to diagnose it and recommend treatment.  It disappeared but absolutely needed intervention.
I definitely believe in miracles.  Yet a miracle by its very definition is a cessation of the natural order and replacing it with what is welcome but contrary to nature.  I totally believe in setting myself up to receiving a miracle and have experienced it, but sometimes I can do all I know to do yet things do not work out how I would like.
It is at that point I reckon I have a choice.  Wallow and say, “woe is me,” or get on with making the best of the way things are.  I do not necessarily like the way things are, but my dislike does not change things.
In many circumstances it seems to me I can change my attitude.  For me prayer breaks the loop.  Of course I will endeavour to change a bad situation, but it is really all about what I will do when I have changed all I can and the external circumstances remain unchanged.
It is that I reckon James Clear talks about when he says, “have a good day regardless."
I am not a Pollyanna, but I do know that despite the way things might be I have heaps to look forward to.  My suffering is unpleasant but it is really momentary compared to eternity.
