Yesterday was as I said to myself.  It was a quiet day in front of the computer.  I deliberately did not go near the yard.  I could see there was still plenty to do, and projects I have in mind.  But it seems to me there is a time and place for such things. I determined that yesterday was not such a time or place.  I let things that need doing mature for another day.
What I did instead was prepare for things.  One was that night, another couple were for today, another was Sunday, and another was in over a week’s time.
I do feel it was time well spent.  Nothing I prepared for was going away.  I did feel it had to be done.  Where possible I like to do things early, as that gives me time to consider things and add or subtract as I see fit.
Probably the most impactful thing I did was prepare to give the communion talk on Sunday.  We are encouraged to do it in remembrance. As someone said last night – like the ANZACS “lest we forget.”  I made a point of remembering his life changing power.  I guess that was easy as I and many others have experienced it and really it is something for everyone.
It was good last night in that there was a diverse group of people here.  We have a get together here most Tuesday nights.  Ages ranged from early 20’s to 70’s. A couple of people were from other churches but all that mattered to us was it is the same God our allegiance is to.
For me it is less about the sign on the door proclaiming the denomination, and more about what feels like home.  In fact, when Merril and I were looking for a place to go, two places felt right.  I found out later they were different denominations.  The amazing thing to me was that one closed its doors here (and went west) while those from here merged.  It actually merged with the other church that had felt right to us.  That is where we go now.
So I did stuff I needed to do.  Merril needed to study, which she did, and I needed to prepare, which I did. I feel better.  I don’t do stuff hanging over my head well.
