Causes

There are definitely a heap of causes I could belong too.  They are no doubt out there, but I do not know any that would not welcome me with open arms.

I reckon heaps of them are worthwhile and if I was so inclined, I would become a part of them.  Still may.  I have learned to never say never.  I am not disposed to joining them right now though.  I have enough on my plate with just Merril and me.

There are a couple of causes I think I am part of though, without needing to have filled in forms and paid a membership fee.
When people are oppressed, I come to their aid if I can.  To me there are few things worse than being under the hand of an oppressor.  It can be something as simple as an unfair landlord.  Someone I know, did their place up better than they found it.  The landlord was not going to pay the bond back.  The Landlord provide pictures and all.  The thing was, the pictures were not even of their place.  They got their brass back and rightly so to me.

Another cause I will automatically get involved in is seeing that ladies who have lost their husbands are looked after.  Women tend to be taken advantage of anyway.  I only need to go shopping with Merril to see that.   Women’s cloths are more expensive than men’s.  The pants may be the same but cost less in the men’s department than the women’s.  Not fair I reckon.  I think it would be so hard for a lady who is used to having a man do stuff suddenly needing to fend for themselves.  Actually, it goes for anyone.  Re-aligning takes some adjusting.

The movie “Places in the Heart” highlighted injustices faced by women for me.  Sure it was set in the 50’s when things were different, but men tried to exploit the person in a role played by Sally Fields.  What made things worse for her was a black man helped her with her cotton farming, and became the object of the white fella’s unfairness.  Sally Field’s character and others won out, but it was a brief victory.  He left in the end, as his staying would have been at great cost to her.

This morning I was sitting waiting for the doctor for Merril and I saw the sign “a converstion worth having.”  It made me think of “are you ok.”   Men not opening up is a cause by any other name.  That is worth doing to me.  Simple, but it can be effective.  I also read “a conversation can change a life.”  As far as I am concerned it can.

That will teach them to have something on the wall.  I tend to read everything when I am sitting waiting.  Last night we were at another place that had in big writing DO NOT and then smaller writing.  Then it had STOP in big writing followed by smaller writing.  I thought I will keep going then as the writing I could read said DO NOT STOP.

Causes can be very worthwhile, but at the moment I tend to be a part of a cause without being part of a cause.

I know I am weird, but this may freak you out.  There is a good chance I am not the weirdest.
