Cats and Dogs

Yesterday and today are such a contrast.  Yesterday ended up being a total vege day.  Oh we did go for a walk and checked if we could see next doors cat (they are away).  We couldn’t.
Today has started with a flurry.  Merril and I wandered the streets (that sounds bad, so I had better explain).  The neighbour leaves food and water for the animals but is visiting the daughter in hospital.  She has leukemia).  Merril and I keep an eye on their animals.  After a certain time, we provide the food and water.
Today that is what we had in hand.  We often hear the dog as it has been crying and I don’t think it was crying for joy.  It was the cat we had not seen.  It is a really passive cat.  The most it ever does is walk from here to over there.  So often it could be mistaken for a statue.  It does not do much.
Anyway, as we wandered over to the front of their place, we saw the cat.  And there was much rejoicing.  Well, we were happy to see her.  We had not made provision for the cat, but it seemed to like herrings in tomato sauce.
The dog is a great watch dog and beautiful but not one we want to get near.  We have a system.  We had a container of water and the contents of a can of dog food.  Both containers were on string.  We lowered them down over the fence for the dog.  The dog in her enthusiasm knocked over the water so that process had to be repeated.  We think it appreciated the food by the way it demolished it.  In fact, she liked the food so much she tore the container from the string.  We are unsure if she is going to eat it or play with it.
We felt better and just wanted the dad to know we will do what is needed if needed.  Anyway, I wrote, and the dad and son will be home today.
We have fed the birds and Merril fed the worms yesterday.  She is about to go for her walk.  What is happening now appears to be delaying tactics to me.  I really should do it to but that is as close as I will get.
Later we are visiting someone to assist with what needs to be done.  There is a gate on a rental property I have that has collapsed.  If we can fix it we will do so on the spot.  Otherwise we will determine what we need to fix it.  Merril will go and bank while I have a coffee.  While she is banking, she will visit a store to get more dog and cat food.  We keep it on hand “just in case.”
After that we are visiting cash for cans.  While the number of cans is down it is amazing how for even one family they build up.  Anything that says 10c on it can be turned to income.   I also collect hard plastic tops.  It is good something on plastic milk bottles can be salvaged.  They are melted down in third world countries to make human limbs.
This arvo people are visiting and tonight I play table tennis.  After that we buy take away.  Full day.  Total contrast to yesterday.
