​(there is no one in Brisbane or environs to whom this applies.  It is a place I have been and do not wish to revisit)
I guess if someone went by the number of times I write about something, they could determine what my favourite topics are.  I say that because again I write about love.
Recently I have been wondering why I feel strongly about some things and realized it is because I have displayed some of what I am against.  I saw something today about pretending to love.  Being real is something both Merril and I are known for.  Generally, it is liked that we are down to earth people.  And we are.
I have come to be that way as I spent some time pretending to be something I was not.  I did not set out to, but it is something I saw in hindsight.  I guess that is one of the reasons I am on the lookout for signs that someone is being someone they are not.
There is an Antique Collecting show Merril and I watch.  When the asking price is too low the seller is told.  The intention is for all to win.  No-one need ever lose whose love is genuine.  It may not pan out as thought but it’s end can be good.
I have experienced a bit of disingenuousness on the internet, and seen it done to others.  I really do not think there is 1 million dollars waiting for me as an inheritance, and I only need to click on a button to find out more.
Some people have lost thousands.  I have lost around $100.  I received an invoice.  It looked so legitimate.  It was only after I paid it, I found out it was not.  I have learned a bit since then.  It does not matter how legitimate an invoice looks, I need to visit the web site to establish if I really need to pay anything.
It seems many salespeople pretend to love when they only really want a sale.  It is amazing how often a salesman appears to be my new best friend.  I really feel for some older people whose loneliness is taken advantage of.  Often all they want is someone to talk to, and a salesman appears to fit the bill.  They are willing to talk.  Yet when the money is handed over, they disappear.
Pretending to love can be the unkindest cut of all.  Mostly, someone’s heart is broken as a result.  At best, a person does not realize what is happening, and at worst, they do not care.  They want what they want, and will get it by hook or by crook.
There is a word I was wracking my brain to remember.  I had read it but forgotten what it was.  It is related to this big time (in my mind at least).  That word was dissimulation.  Something I only found out today is that that word relates to “simulation.”  Makes sense to me.  Simulating something makes what is not real look real and is a great tool for learning.
The Cambridge Dictionary comes closest to defining what I have in mind.  “the fact of trying to hide your real feelings, character, or intentions.”  It seems to me when someone feigns love, they often have another agenda.  It does not take into account, or care about, the feelings of another.
I have been there, done that.  It is not a good place to be for someone who cares.  Fortunately, my love and care are genuine.  I sincerely want the best for those I associate with.
