Camera

I got meself a new camera lens the other day. It is a Tamron 18-400 zoom.
Fair dinkum lens cost a fortune.  It was purchased from a company in Sydney and even with almost $60 freight, it was still cheaper than anywhere I could get it locally.
They used DHL for transport.  They are really good.  Unfortunately I was out and about when they tried to deliver it in the first instance.  Merril and I went and picked it up from the airport.  It is years since I have done that, and I was really impressed with the procedure.  A pin number went to my phone.  I typed in the pin to this “’box.”  I then needed to sign my name electronically.  Once done, the door popped open and there it was!  The packaging itself was like fort knoxs.
I recently also upgraded my camera.  They have come down in price so much.  I paid a lot more before, for a camera that was not as good. One really needs to be careful purchasing camera stuff from overseas though.  There are a lot of “grey goods” out there.  They look the part, but are not the part.  I was fortunate when I originally got mine.  It was very worthwhile at the time to purchase from overseas (it seems less so now.)  I have a friend that purchased a you beaut long distance lens at a price that seemed to be too good to be true.  It turns out it was.  I really felt for them, as for shot after shot, they wondered why this thing would not focus properly.
Unfortunately lens have not come down in price like camera’s.  When purchasing the camera I enquired about a lens and it was going to cost more than the camera had.
So why did I feel the need for another lens?  I already had an 18-55 zoom and a 55 – 200 zoom for my canon.  My latest purchase was a 400 zoom.  I bought it because I reckon it would be safe to say, mine is the “Lazy man’s guide to photography.”  I am doing a web site and it needs photographs.  What I did not want to do, was walk to take close ups.  I don’t want it to matter where I am to be able to get one.
It would really help if I knew what I was doing, but the occasional good shot keeps me coming back.  Bit like table tennis really.  When I play badly, I think what’s the point, and want to give up.  At other times, I have a blinder and cannot wait to get back and play.
