Burn Out Solutions

Click here to eBelow are some solutions for burn out.  As with a lot of things it is probably easier said than done.  Anyway, a number of these things work for me.
·      Take Relaxation Seriously - designate time for it.  I do take relaxation seriously.  I give time to what is important to me.  I give this time.
·      Cultivate a Rich Non-Work Life - Find something outside of work that you are passionate about that's challenging, engaging and really gets you going—whether a hobby, sports or fitness activities or volunteering in the community.  Participate in rewarding non-work activities.
·      Unplug - Set boundaries and delegate times to check email.
·      Get Enough Sleep - Replenish your resources.  I am not a robot.
·      Get Organized - Put together a to-do list, prioritize. Can forget tasks as reminders in place.  To me, lists are really important.  I find there are few things worse than a vague feeling that I may have forgotten something.  Having a list enables me to set and forget.
·      Stay Attuned – recognise symptoms.  Identify work stressors.
·      Know When It's You, and When It's Them - Burnout can be motivated by internal and external factors, Ask "Where is this coming from?"
·      Figure Out When Enough Is Enough - Can be more demands and fewer resources. Find out whether it's time to move on.  I hear it regularly said “they are giving 110 percent.  To me that is ok in short bursts.  It can not be maintained continually though.  If an attempt is made to do it, it is a recipe for personal disaster.
·      Factor in 150 minutes of physical exercise per week.  To me this has to be something that is enjoyed.  So often it seems people give up because they feel they should do something, but it gives them no pleasure.  On the other hand, I see my table tennis as a part of factoring in exercise.  I enjoy it and it does me good.  Win/win I reckon.   And if I win a match it is like win/win/win.
·      Stop trying to be perfect. – get away from all or nothing thinking.  Not perfect is not a failure.  Remove some self-imposed pressures.  This to me is a biggy.  I can be my own worst enemy.  I can only give it my best shot and hopefully the more I do it the better I get.
·      When needed, lighten your load.  Learn to say no.  Loyalty to an employer is commendable, and so is loyalty to oneself.  I am happy to work towards a mutual goal but I am me, not someone else.
·      Don’t be afraid to ask for help.  No man is an island.  We need each other and more than ourselves.  Going it alone is a trap.  I personally don’t care what it takes.  If someone can help me achieve my goal that is one less task for me.
·      Beating burn out is your choice alone.  Be honest with yourself.  Problems need work to make them disappear.  I am big on choice.
I reckon all these things help.  I am not Superman (that may be news to you) and I need to stop trying to be.  I have all the resources I need to do what I need to do.  I do not have the resources I need to do what I am not supposed to do.t.
