Bull

Merril chose the random word from the dictionary today.  It was “bull.”  I actually thought at first it was shark because the word was highlighted and where headings were.  But Merril correctly wondered how shark was so early in the book.
It was talking there about “bull sharks.”  To me they are the meanest sharks around.  I think it was on Foxtel but we watched a show doing research on Bull Sharks and after going around the world they settled on the Brisbane River to conduct their study.
A person is considered to be talking a lot of bull if what they say has no relation to the way things are.  I might leave it at that as I prefer not to leave myself open.
Though it seems to be mentioned less these days there is the image of a bull in a china shop.  It seems to refer to doing unthinking damage.  Very random.  Scatter gun.  I do not think I could be considered a bull in a china shop judging by the way I so gingerly handle rare and expensive china at home.  It sounds like an excuse but if it is not mine then I will not even wash it up as I am concerned I will do damage.
Similar I think to being bull headed.  It mentions obstinate or blundering in that context.  Again it seems to be something that is gone for in a big way without due consideration.
Taking the bull by the horns is something I relate to better though if the image that comes to mind is anything to go by I cannot see it as something I would literally want to do.  But if talking about some activity I want to engage in then count me in.  It seems to me determination and purpose is better (not to mention safer) than wishy-washy.
There are other references to bull like bull market which is speculation prices will rise.  I personally have not been there but judging by the number of people that have shares and play the stock market it seems many have.
One thing I have always wondered about is how can my interests as the consumer be considered paramount when the interests of stock holders must be catered for if they are to stay with and provide money to the company?
Bull Frog I think I will let go.  I have never seen one.  I have seen a number of other frogs but not one of them.
Then there is the magnificent creature called a bull.  The male version of a cow.  How is that for all technical.  I guess I have a bit of an affinity for them with my handle on-line being “Cattle Grazing” for many things.  I did consider cattle stampede but decided that was too manic.
We have even done trips to the country to look at cows.  Special drives.  An outing.  Two cars.  I was actually amazed anyone else wanted to go.  Still, a good time was had by all and we saw some wonderful country.  The bulls probably do not remember them but I do.
But the word bull brings back some fond memories.  I was sent some unusual things because of my handle.  Though I do not think the cow seeds would work.
