Building Momentum

I read something this morning I have felt for a while.  Being retired helps, but even when I was working, I made it a practice.
This was said by a Simmon Sarris.  “The secret to waking up is to wake up way earlier than you have to. When you have 1-2 hours where you can just sit there calmly, drinking coffee, and not be rushed, you feel ten times better. Later on, you can work on being productive in the morning too, if you please.”
It is just something I have felt for a while.  I way prefer a leisurely start to the day than a frantic one.  Being a morning person helps heaps.
I know I gain momentum as the day unfolds even if, as I have aged, (and having the stroke) I feel I need to rest in the afternoon.  Merril will tell you I tend to get heaps done first thing.
I guess it has something to do with self-awareness. Working with my strengths rather than against them helps heaps.  I know that if I have a rushed start I tend to not be as good.  Sometimes though circumstances conspire against me, and I need to start the day in a hurry.  I am normally aware that is likely to be the case (it was happening on our last holiday when we got up early to drive to different locations).  When that sort of thing happens, I like to be as prepared as possible.
It is a bit of a thing of mine to have things done as early as possible but not to be concerned about things too early.  I really have found that this way I am prepared and I can also value add.  Being prepared gives me time to take something further if I want to, and it also enables me to deal with things that come up unexpectedly (like finding stuff I was unaware were not immediately available)
It is interesting to read something like that as it seems to me we are singing from the same song book.  It is probably not everyone’s cup of tea but I know it works for me.
