Bottlenecks

Something occurred to me this morning.  I think the fact it did was best summarized by Faulty in Faulty Towers.  He said to someone “you aught to go on Master mind.  Special subject.  The bleeding obvious.”
What occurred to me and is so obviously a part of me, is how much I like a thought succinctly put.  I was looking at the weekly email from James Clear.  Something he said grabbed me.  “Don’t be your own bottleneck.”
I really like that.  I reckon today was a prime example of that possibility.  I knew I had a really busy day ahead.  Something had happened the night before and I could only think the answer was I would have to do it.  It was an assigned task that could not be carried out by the original person assigned to the task.  It is a me thing, but I will not ask anyone to do something without what I consider reasonable time.  That could have done my head in.  Everything seemed a bridge too far.  But I had let one task become a bottleneck.
I had experienced another bottleneck recently.  I get plastic tops for third world countries to turn into limbs on a 3d printer.  Recently someone gave me a pile in plastic containers.  I wash all the tops before distributing them.  The tops took a while to get out.  The entry point turned out to be a bottleneck. A few would come out, and then the rest would jam in the entry point.  Some tops were proving to be a bottleneck to the others.
I told Merril about the overnight problem I had encountered, and she suggested something that had not occurred to me.  I did it and problem solved.  The other tasks still needed to be done but one at a time they were a cinch.
There is no doubt in my mind that bottlenecks can stop heaps from happening.  Dealing with a bottleneck released heaps for me.
