Born Leader

Click hIt is an age-old question “are leaders born, or are they made?”  I do have my own take on such things based on what I have seen.
It seems in some situations, leaders are made.  In a specific job with a specific job description people can undertake the role because of their experience, and by following the job description.  They may have a number of people who answer to them.  They are leaders.  Potentially no vision is required.  Follow the descriptions and you’ll be right.
It seems many people want to be a leader.  To me it is no wonder we say they were “led astray.”  Ideas can be good and worth doing if changes are made.  What always rings in my ears is advice I received decades ago which was “it is not how close to danger you can go but how far you can keep from it.”   Requirements can seem unreasonable, but if they are not adhered to, those implementing the idea are the ones who could pay the price.
Some folk take on a leadership role and they should never have.  Perhaps the allure of the title was all that mattered.  Or perhaps a need was seen, and a person rushed in to fill it.  Whatever the case, the wrong person can be in the job.  Unfortunately, the wrong person can create a log jam.  Their authority means what they say goes, but their outlook means the direction headed may be sus.  Worse still is if they will not listen.  Not all needs to be embraced, but all should be heard.
Some seem to think that if they are not the leader then they are nobody.  That is totally untrue.  For a start, we are all leaders.  There are leaders in families.  If I have oversight of anyone, then I am a leader.  If I am responsible for no-one else, then at the very least I need to lead myself.   I may not be the numero uno, but I am needed for it to happen.  I may not always lead, but I am always a leader.
Then there are the born leaders.  They tend to be the big picture people.  They may not be the best to do all that needs doing, but they are happy for others to do stuff as long as it furthers their vision.
Leadership should not be taken on a whim.  Many leaders would do something else if they could.  What they choose to do, tends to be something that they must do for their own sanity.  It is not like “oh I’m going to be a leader.”  It seems to be “try not to be leader” and they can’t.
It seems to me born leaders have a vision.  They know where they are now, and they figure out the best way to get where they want to be.  Born leaders hopefully do not just make things right, but take thing further.  Often others are needed for the task.  Those people are the leaders (born or made) of their area.  When they are made, they often do the job, and do it well.  When they are born, they will do the same but always be thinking how it can be taken further.  It may involve something from left field.
A person can be in customer relations, accounts, IT or numerous roles, but ideally a born leader heads up the organization.
Enough of the harder questions self.  Time for easier ones please.ere to edit.
