Book

I’ve done a movie.  I think it is time a did a book.  I say I’ve done a movie, but I haven’t really done one.  Thought about it though and it is the thought that counts.
The book I do has to be a real page turner.  The subject matter needs to be riveting.  Something a person would not want to put down until they had finished the last page and found out what happened.
I’ve got it!  Washing Up!  That would do it.  Apart from billions doing it everyday it would be like breaking new ground.
It would need a catchy title though.  So often a good title fosters a second look. ‘Zen and the Art of Washing Up” makes it sound all mystical and mysterious.  I do not know there is much mystery in it though, as it happens every day.   But for some it is mysterious.  A great unknown.  But my market is not a minority.  I could call it “Washing Up for Beginners.”  Trouble is, that excludes the experienced ones.  I don’t want to limit my readership. I had thought “Washing Up 101” but that is too text booky.  I probably need to give the title more thought.
I reckon I am perfect for writing a book as I can handle rejection.  Apart from my bottom lip quivering no one would ever know.  I could put down using both my fists to rub my eyes, to an allergy.  My eyes being extremely watery would aid my cause.  The fact my bin would be overflowing with crumpled up letters could be seen as purely co-incidental.
I would be on a winner with this one.  It happens every day.  Well maybe not every day for some.  Judging by the height of the dishes it is probably more like once a quarter.  Still, it has to be done, and having read my book would make the job easier.
Most stories have an introduction where the characters are presented for the first time.  I would not let the fact there is only one character be a stumbling block though.  Perhaps a back story could be the personalities of the people that left the dirty dishes to be washed up.  How did those dishes come to be there?  That is something every one would want to know for sure.
Putting a pile of dishes into the water would be the plot thickening.  What will be the fate of those dishes?  Will they end up in the drainer as expected, or will the plot take a more sinister turn?  Wow.  Makes me want to read the book even though it has not been written.
I have a dilemma, but I think I will solve it.  It is how do I turn “I washed up” into 200,000 words?
I’m gonna need a new page for that.
