Bon Bon

“Where’s Bon Bon?”
I think I must watch too much tv.  I know something is being sold and I think it is a car.  But I get caught up in the search for Bon Bon.  I have seen the ad too many times.  I am at the stage where I think, “kid, Bon Bon is missing.  Get over it.  Move on.”
But no.  Steps are retraced.  We see how much the car can hold.  We see it is good for all sorts of terrain.  Then Bon Bon is found and there is great rejoicing.  Not in my chair though.  Well maybe there was the first 17 times, but now I am over it.
If only the answer to “Where’s Bon Bon?” had been “here you are.  Here’s Bon Bon” then maybe I would have been blissfully unaware of that family drama.  Ok family drama’s matter, and secretly I am glad Bon Bon was found, but I could have done without being a witness.
I doubt my life was made the richer by the Bon Bon drama.   I reckon I could have successfully gone through life never hearing of Bon Bon.  It was never edge of the seat stuff.  It was more like a comfortably seated in a sprawled out, stupor like manner thing.  Secretly I was miffed that this ad was preventing me seeing another show I have completely forgotten.
But no.  The search for Bon Bon was centre stage.  Where was Bon Bon?  Was Bon Bon lost never to be found?  What did the future hold for Bon Bon?  Would someone see a picture of Bon Bon in twenty years time and him looking the same age?  Would an investigation be mounted?  Would “Who do you think you are?” have Bon Bon as one of their subjects, tracing him all the way back to the factory in which he was made?
Ok I could have put the tv on mute.  I could have looked away.  But that would have meant moving.  I am happy to lift a finger to help, but lifting a finger to press the remote button was asking too much.  As for turning my head to look away, that is like a whole nother ball game.
Besides.  It was our place.  I had invited them in only to have my hospitality abused.  I do not remember inviting Bon Bon in.  But there was Bon Bon (eventually).  Large as life. 
And there I was.  It is like we were destined to meet.  I care about Bon Bon.  I want the best for Bon Bon.  But like, somewhere else.
