Blue Card

Today is Blue Card day.  It is not like the place is surrounded and a command over a megaphone has been given, “come out with your hands where we can see them.”  Nope.  Nothing as dramatic.  They want a new photo of me before they can issue me with a new blue card.
Apparently to get that I should go to main roads and have a new photo issued by them.  That was contrary to what I had hoped.  I hoped I could just use my phone and take a photo.  Too simple.  I had to get a new one issued from main roads.
It does not surprise me the photo was considered too old.  I do remember when I got my licence renewed, they asked did I want a new one or to use the old one.  My reasoning was “if I use the old one, I will look younger.”  Vanity prevailed.
Of course this may all be a ruse.  They probably just want an up-to-date photo of this incredibly handsome chap they can run off on the copier.  I feel better going with that one.
What did surprise me when I went to get my licence, was what they said and did about my current address.  The visible address on my licence is my last address.  I gave them my new address.  They told me they updated it as a result.  Invisibly.  I see no change.  No one else can see any change.  But I am assured it has been done.  I really need to just take their word for it, as I cannot see it.
Like the electronic rat deterrent we bought.  It emitted a high-pitched sound only the rats could hear.  They did not like it and would go away.  I always had questions about that one.  Like “if I could not hear it, how would I know it was working?”  I thought they were potentially onto a fast money-making scheme here.
I decided if rats disappeared we would assume it was working.  They disappeared.  Except one.  We assumed he was deaf.  We decided it was working.
So today I need to get a new photo.  I need to look my best.  This could take a while.
Actually Merril cut my hair yesterday.  I think it was mine anyway.  I was not so sure when I saw how grey it was.  But it does look neater.  Gone was the mad professor look.  That is probably just as well anyway.
