Blindfold

I guess there are lots of words in the dictionary.  I can have my finger point on all sorts of words.  Ones with which I am familiar and not surprised when they come up, and others which take me by complete surprise.  Like today.  “Blindfold.”
I must admit that is one thing I have not had much experience with.  I think I need to go to ”Pin the Tail on the Donkey” to remember any experience of it.  And I actually do not remember putting on the blindfold.
I imagine my experience would differ from a crook in a movie I saw that tried to mend his ways and became a used car salesman.  He was extoling the virtues of a particular car and said “look at the size of that boot.  You could fit two bodies into that boot.”
I could wax all mystical and talk about the way I see things in this day and age.  How many it seems have something covering the eyes and fail to see what is happening.
Only yesterday I was thinking about a C.S.Lewis book in the Narnia series called “The Silver Chair”  In it there were these underground people (or whatever they were), that did everything in a regimented unthinking manner.  It was only after something happened did they see and understood for the first time they were in the control of someone who had them doing their bidding.  At that point they saw what was going on and changed allegiance.
As I say “blindfold” is like a left field word for me.  It has left me agog and wondering where it can go.  I have seen plenty of movies where someone is blindfolded and taken hostage to a secret location.  I have also seen interviews where someone is talking to a person in a location unknown to the authorities, and gives their side of a story.
In every case it seems to me, a blindfold is used to prevent a person knowing something.  I am not sure it is ever a good thing, in that it either hides ill intent, hides the result of ill or unthinking intent.
