Bleed the Same

To me all people groups are alike in many ways.  They may have different emphasise, but all contain good and bad.  People that care and people that don’t.
The Germans have a reputation for precision.  The Asians are good at making stuff.  The African nations seem really good at running long distances and have an enviable rhythm. It seems that in Pacific nations  people are born with a guitar in their hand.  Someone I know said Philippino’s are good nurses.  That is their experience.  Any people group has its strengths and weaknesses.  I only need to look at history to see the weaknesses of people groups.
I honestly cannot get my head around superiority.  As though one people group is inherently better than another.  To me they are not.  I feel I have interacted with enough to know they can teach me stuff, and I can teach them stuff.
I have met a few Iranians and have seen in them exactly what I see anywhere.  Some are really nice.  Some give the impression they feel superior.  I do not feel that is a trait in one people group alone.  I have seen that in lots of people groups.  There are those that feel the same way everywhere.
To me the way a people group appears has a lot to do with those in power.  The vast majority of any population is a mixture of open and friendly and closed and suspicious.  All have people willing to help, and others willing to rip off.  Sometimes the best is seen and sometimes the worst.
It is commonly said we all bleed the same.  It is true.  No matter what colour a person is, cut them and they bleed red. Kill them and they all die.
Feeling the way I do, I need to ask myself, “how does that affect my behaviour?”  It is well and good to hold to something and another thing to express it in actions.  I need to not only talk the talk but to walk the walk.
To me while things may be black and white there is a lot of grey of different shades.  I have seen someone get jumped on on-line for expressing a view based on experience.  They hold to something but acknowledge that they see where another may be coming from.
I find that is a “walking in their shoes” attitude.  To me, truth is best conveyed in an understanding, walk together manner than in an apparently self-righteous proclamation.  The goal may be the same, but one puts off while the other encourages.
I only need to look all around the world to see that no matter the people group, all battle the same issues.  If they don’t, then given the right circumstance they will.  South Korea is a good example of that to me.  That nation went quickly from subsistence living to a power the equal of many first world nations.  At each step the people have faced problems that are faced the world over.
I cannot answer for others.  I can help if needed and I am asked, but I cannot walk in their shoes.  I can only try to understand.  The best I can do is be responsible for me.  I know I need help for that and ask it.  If I can talk the talk, and walk the walk, I have done the best I can do.
