Big Words

I was having trouble sleeping.  Perhaps 27 hours had been enough.  Who knows.  What I did know though, was I was lying there wide awake, thinking of really weird stuff.  That is probably the case for everyone.  Please tell me it is.  I need to know I am not alone.  All by myself.  Wandering through life a lonely comet.  Surrounded by darkness.  Actually I was, as it was night time.
Alone with my thoughts, I thought I should write something no one understands.  Then I thought I probably do that anyway.  I was thinking of a challenge.  Then I thought maybe if I use big words, and sound like I know what I am talking about, people will think I do.
I decided to go with that, but I first needed to know some big words. So I looked up a dictionary.  I was amazed.  Type “big words” into the web browser, and there is a site called big words.  As if I needed more proof that these were not original thoughts.
Accoutrements was a big word.  It meant accessories.  It seemed though it was a word looking for a sentence.  So I put it on the back burner.  Perhaps I could find a home for it.  But maybe not.  At least it meant drama for me.  Will I or won’t I find a home for that word?  Is it destined never to belong?  What will be it’s outcome?  Stay tuned and find out.  Well I guess I was a captive audience anyway.  I had to stay tuned and find out if it was me writing it.
Cuddlesome was another fairly big word I found.  I could relate to that one being a Doctor and all specializing in cuddleuptome’s.  Nidificate or “to nest” seemed to go with it.  It was not so big but really obscure to me.  Now I had three words, but I felt I needed more.
I found sesquipedalian but I was unsure about that one.  It is a word for “one who uses big words.”  I did not want to go there, as I felt they were on to me.  The last thing I needed was to declare my intentions.  It was to be my secret.  Known only to me.
I felt I could use unparagoned which means “to have no equal.”  That described me I was sure.  I am unmatched in the race to the bottom.  There is something not quite right there, but I reckon given time I will figure it out.  Besides if someone asks me if I have a match, I tell them no not since superman died.  Trouble is, no one ever asks me that.
I felt I needed only one more word.  I found parsimonious which means “frugal.”
Having found that word I felt if I put them all in a sentence, I could sound like I knew what I was talking about even if I didn’t.  Accoutrements (accessories), cuddlesome (cuddly), nidificate (to nest), sesquipedalian (one who uses big words), unparagoned (to have no equal).  Having put them together I knew just like in Mission Impossible, this tape would self-destruct in five seconds, so time was short.  I needed to find a sentence for those words.
“You can be an unparagoned sesquipedalian and be cuddlesome as you nidificate, but cuddles to you are just accoutrements.”  I could live with that.  Just as well really, as I am the only one who would has to.
But sleep still evaded me.  May as well saxicolous.  Err, that is not right.  This big word thing is not for me.
