Big Week

18/8/2019

What a week!  Doing nothing is often a dream.  I generally do at least 8 hours work, though it is more spread out than a normal days labour.
Monday I spent doing things around the house and then went with Merril to table tennis.  She plays Monday night.  The first two weeks I assisted while this week I watched from afar.  I had a hit with a guy that I really appreciate has a hit with me.  He is way better than me.  That sort of left me zombie like.
Tuesday people come over to our place.  We get ready for that.  I gave up trying to iron the cover for the table people use (it is a couple of covers and they are big).  I just could not make it look as good as Merril does.  Merril fixed that.  I did other things I had to do.
Wednesday I decided I would help Merril with getting her home ready for sale.  That night I played table tennis.  I played really badly (and for me that is pretty bad).  That is not to take away anything from those that beat me.  The best they can do is deal with what is in front of them.  In this case it was me.  After they got over the initial shock, they did what they had to do.
Thursday is normally my day off day.  My veg day.  It does not mean I do nothing it just means I can do nothing.  I generally make no appointments for that day.  Anyway this last Thursday I really felt to assist Merril where I could.  We went to her place.  I admit I worked.  At about four pm I decided enough was enough.  One hand had cramped up and I thought “I have another so I will use that.”   It worked for a while, and then it too started cramping up.  Mowing the lawn using my teeth on the handle is more conducive to broken teeth than it is to mowing so I did not do that.  Besides, I never thought of it.
Friday morning I always go visiting.  That night Merril, Stuart and I went to my oldest brother on the sunshine coast.  We went out to dinner to celebrate his birthday.  We did not linger, but the meal and the company were great.
Saturday we have a session where we open the Table Tennis club.  It really depends on who comes as to if I play at all.  Where it is an odd number I always have a hit.  In the evening the agent rang to say a few people had been through the home.
Sunday Merril and I often go to church.  I have a couple of rolls there.  I spent the morning preparing for that.  After the service we both went visiting and I did what I had to do in preparation for Tuesday.
Merril had her own big week.  Some things we did together and others separately but one thing is for sure – we both had a big week.
The use of the word big sort of reminds me of a Hagar the Horrible cartoon strip.  Helga asked him what are you doing tonight?  He said I have a big club meeting tonight.  The next frame shows him rummaging though a chest and asking “Helga, have you seen my big club?”
Sunday arvo we vegged.  We felt we had earned it.  Next week really it all starts again.
