Big Smoke

I am not a country lad in the big smoke.  I will keep telling myself that.  Though I am probably a bit like the Amish guy visiting the city and seeing a lift for the first time.  A really old lady hopped in and the lift went up.  When it returned a really young lady hoped out.  He said, “hurry son, go get your mother.”
One thing though, I think the people must be really friendly and everyone know everyone.  Car horns sound all the time.  Must be folks saying gedday to their mates.
Nothing should be made of when we were about to catch a tour bus.  It was dark.  I looked at a sign and could not make it out clearly.  I read Curry Exchange.  I wondered “how do they do that?”  It was Currency Exchange.”  I won’t tell anyone if you won’t.
Today I saw a bus.  I read it as “Narcotics Tours.”  I saw another bus with the same name and though this line and tour is really popular.  Turns out it was the same bus further down the road.  It said Naracoorte.
I really am not in this boat alone.  Merril is as bad as me.  Where we booked was close to the flower and garden show.  I reckon we did three sides of a rectangle to get there.  It is just down there, Merril informed me as we set out.  Going over a rise we saw a park.  “That is the park,” Merril told me so we headed for it.  Going over another rise showed there was a major road of several lanes each way, between us and that park.  I wondered how we were to get to that park.  We turned left and Merril informed me that was not the park.  I knew we had walked down, and at some stage we would need to walk up.  We walked along parallel to the park and then turned left again and headed up hill.  It could have been worse if we had not had a rest along the way in the shade.  Eventually we reached the top of the hill again and turned left and low and behold, we came to the entrance of the show.
I should have known it was going to be that sort of day.  We spent time at the show and decided it was time for coffee.  We lined up and were informed the place had run out of coffee.  We asked where there was another place, and were given directions to a place that could not have been further away.   Whoever we asked, felt our pain.  We finally found the place, but it had a sign up saying they had run out.   We did not get a coffee until we arrived home.
Talk about small things.  I was fascinated by a bin where the rubbish was put in and a person could see it land on the ground.  There was something wrong with the bottom of it.  Silly me fixed it.
It seems we are spoiled where we live.  Motels are what we expect.  We have never had a surprise.  I turned on the tap to wash my hands in the one we are in now.  Instead of a steady stream of a predicable flow, the water came out in a rush.  It hit the basin with great impact and went all over me and the floor.  I was not expecting that, and it was not a good look.
We are enjoying ourselves a lot, but there is no doubt there is some weirdness happening.
