Big Questions

We all see things we wish we had not seen.
There are definitely some professions I would have trouble doing.  I could not be a doctor.  I sure am grateful some like it, but I am not one of them.  Yet there are some people that get off, watching medical procedures on tv.  There is also a show on tv, where the doctor is very good at what he does, but he faints at the sight of blood.  I don’t faint, but I avoid it if at all possible.  I did not even look at my wound for my recent operation, until several days later.  I would also dislike being a nurse in an emergency ward.  I also reckon those in war zones, would see things they would not choose to see to.  It is probably a major reason for Post-Traumatic Stress Syndrome.
There is a lot we can control, and those things we do.  It is what comes at us from left field, which can be harder to deal with.  It is the unexpected, and the unexpected is not always nice.
A friend of mine had a motor cyclist crash outside his place.  The person involved hit something and died.  Another friend had a mate fall off a ladder and die.  No one expected that.  Those things just happened.  We would rather they did not, but they did.
Unfortunately, when it comes to trauma, sometimes we only have band aid solutions for things that require major surgery.  What we say, we say so easily, yet it is not easy.
They say time is a great healer, and it is, though sometimes it is not enough.  They also say we need to bury the past, but it is not good to bury something alive.  Sometimes we need to acknowledge we do not have the answers.  Sure, I believe there will come a time when the “whys” will be answered, but for now I may only see things dimly.  Often someone knows in themselves, what is best for them.  Frequently there are strategies, and six or four or whatever point plans.  They can be good and right, but they are not necessarily a one size fits all solution.
Thankfully, we are all different, and equally as thankfully we are not so different that we cannot relate to each other.  Someone else can relate to my experience of hurt.  Certainly it may not be as deep as someone else’s, but it is a start, and it seems we all want to be well.  No matter how long it takes, if we can achieve that together, we do well.  The best thing for any of us, is to know we are loved, and to be there for each other.
