Big Day

11/9/2021

It is late at night I am writing this.  But the reason this is happening so late is because today was such a huge day.  It obviously took it out of me.  This morning I was putting on a get together.  It took a lot of organizing.
Covid did not help.  I was wondering if it would happen at all, or we would be in lock down.  Anyway, there came a time it was obvious we would not be in lockdown, so organizing started in earnest.
Fortunately for me, two others said they would cook.  I cannot express the sense of relief that brought.  Merril often says that anyone else’s cooking tastes better.  These were the nicest sausages I have ever had.  I like sausages anyway, but these were beautiful.
After that was cleaning the church which we do of a Saturday.  There are four of us that do that.  Each does their task well, and it does not take long at all.
We went straight from that into town.  The trip in was great and included a lot of laughs including one belly laugh from us both.  We did not know it but there had been an accident and the drive was a crawl.  We met a friend in town and found a place at South Bank to have lunch.  We enjoyed it, but mostly enjoyed the company.
Came for time to go to the museum and look at the leggo display.  We had booked in weeks ago.  It was totally worth it.  I am not a leggo man, but I found the creations astounding.
As I do when I see it on TV.  How they think of what to do in the limited time they have.  What they make is so good.
At the leggo display there were space crafts, the space station, the Taj Mahal, the leaning Tower of Pizza, modern building marvels and many other famous icons.  I got a sense of the hanging gardens I never had before.  Merril suggested our shed was going to be like that.  I don’t think so.
What was the centre piece for me was the Titanic.  Broken in half and in the air just before it sank.  It was big.  The amount of work that must have gone into it was amazing.  The detail incredible.
Though the biggest display I saw was more solid than large (though it was big).  It was the flying Scotsman train.  It took over 2,100 hours to do and involved over 24,000 pieces.  The whole display was so worth it.
I must admit though I was pretty cactus, as was Merril.  By the end of it, home was calling.  We got there and really did not last long.
That is why I am writing now.  It was about 3 pm and we had a sleep.  10pm I arose.  It is now closer to midnight.  So this is what midnight looks like.  I reckon I will go back to bed soon.  We need to be somewhere at 8am so it is best I do look too comatose at that.  I can see another sleep happening tomorrow afternoon though.
All the day was great, including testing my eyelids were not leaking.
