Best Laid Plans

Today is normally my day off.  I do not book any appointments unless I choose to.  Once  a month I choose to.  Today is that day.  I have an appointment this afternoon and tonight.
I thought maybe there was going to be one this morning, but that is not convenient today.  I have a granny flat, and the tenants have moved out.  The floor needed fixing and that is happening.  We were going over there this morning to do some work around the yard.  But a plumber and electrician will be there so another time was seen as more suitable.
I must confess I do not mind.  I am only good for a couple of hours physical work these days.  It will happen, but not today.  Merril and I tend to pace ourselves.  We try to build in an afternoon nap which is the custom of dare I say it “older people.”  It does not always work, but it does more often than not.
The other interesting thing for me that happened in the last 24 hours was I received a phone call.  That in itself is not strange.  It is not a case that the only calls I receive are wrong numbers.  It was the contents that took me by surprise.
I have a guys get together monthly.  Guys come here and we have breakfast together and I often have someone from outside speak about their lives to the group.  The guy who was to speak rang last night to say he and his wife are sick as dogs with the flu, and he cannot make it.  It is not like I have heaps of time to organize someone else.  So today I will spend working out what we are going to do.
As I have been writing recently, I am trying to find the good in the bad that happens.  This is a prime example.  He has not gotten sick deliberately.  This is just one of those things.  There is more pressure on me, but it happened, and I move on.  I am sure this will turn out ok.
Three hours have been freed up today with us not going to the granny flat.  That is good planning time for a start.
