It occurred to me this morning that not only was I born at a very early age, but my particular bent was obvious early.
I wrote a poem when I was about 14.  We were on holidays and I was going through what most experience at that age.  Asking “what is the meaning of life”, “why am I here” and stuff like that.
It contained the words “he stops to think and sort things out, while we run free but are full of doubts” (poems to me had to rhyme.)  The poem never had a title but started “Have you ever watched a lonely man.”  I was neither lonely nor a man.  Ok my gender was male, and I was on my way.  But I definitely was not lonely.    There were friends.  Ummm friends is plural.  There was a friend. Ummmm maybe I should say I had had a friend once.
Here I am more than 40 years later and I see myself in the third person.  I know I like to consider stuff.  Often I just stay out of the way and observe.  If there are things to be done I do them, but if there are enough then I just watch.  It is not something I force myself to do, I just do it.
That is just my nature.  Fortunately, others have different natures and we compliment each other (by compliment I don’t mean rendering praise, although I very much believe if someone is doing a good job they should be told - works on me anyway).  No man (person) is an island.  I need you and you need me. I am like a piece in a jigsaw.  If I am not there, there is a piece missing.
In the good, better, best scenario I always strive for the best.  I know that in most instances I cannot provide that alone.  I need input from others.  The best might only be my best but that is as good as I can do.  For me, something has to be at least good.  If it can be improved on, I will try to make it better.  My goal is always the best.  For every stage I know help is desirable.
I do not need to be in charge of something for that to be the case.  I may just have work to do in my corner of the world, and I am striving to achieve something that someone else has in mind.  To me it does not matter.  I can not do any better than my best.
Anyway, they were just my early morning thoughts.  There is stuff to be done but we have been going at it hammer and tongs for ages.  Perhaps my best today is to veg.
