Begin with the End in Mind

It can be weird how thoughts come to me.  I was going for a coffee when I thought “begin with the end in mind.”  I know I have heard that somewhere.  It is what I have tried to do in a lot of areas.
It is nothing mystical or out of left field.  I know when I do the garden or make major changes around the house, I always have a picture in my mind of what I am setting out to achieve.  Usually I have on hand what is needed to accomplish the task, and if I don’t, I can I go get it.
For me often go getting it involves delay.  Fortunately delay does not need to mean abandonment.
I reckon the same goes for a lot of things.  I sort of took it a step further today in that I started to think what I do have.  It seems so easy to concentrate on what I do not have, and treat that as a showstopper.
What I have can be a little or a lot but either way it is a percentage of the whole.  Often what I do not have is a weighted percentage and if it were easy, I would have it already probably.  But to me hard does not need to mean undoable.
It seems once I have determined what I have, and it is working as it should, I can concentrate on what I do not have.  That is liberating.  Instead of coming at something by what I do not have I come at it by what I do have.  It helps me clear the decks in my mind.  Instead of wasting time just on needs, it helps to know I am a good way there.
Needs need to be worked on, but instead of seeing it as the first 40% thing, it may actually be the 60 – 100% thing, and I am more than halfway there.
I am happy with the theory but what about the practicality?  That’s next!
I think I will have an FAQ section.  Truth is, often no one is asking the questions I answer but me.  What I try to do is cover every conceivable situation the problem pertains to.  The aim is that if another questions what I am doing, I have thought about it.  There are times when I have not thought about it, and I actually like getting quizzed on something I have not considered.  The question can be a showstopper but normally it is a problem waiting for an answer.
Anyway that is my little world.  I did the lawn and some tidying up earlier.  Now I am thinking and writing.
