BBQ

I do not do a lot of food preparation, but I do do some.  Bulk onions for the bbq I have been preparing.  I have done it probably three or four times recently.  I always mask up and put safety googles on.  Every time I have ended up with stinging eyes and profuse tears.  I have always had to walk away.  Several times.
But this time I did not need to.  Merril had seen on the internet where someone directs a fan on themselves to do onions.  I thought it was worth a shot so I set it up and did it.  For the first time ever I did not need to walk away at any stage.  I was able to cut, skin and chop the onions in one go.  That was like a red letter day for me.
When washing up I remembered what Merril told me about washing powder being good for dealing with grease.  That worked too (I used ajx).  I was like on a roll.  But I am over it now thank-you.  Still, I have always been one for making a job easier if I could.  All these things go into my bag of tricks.
I was expecting people over and had done a BBQ and cooked heaps.  Trouble was with about three minutes to go no one had turned up.  I though boy do I have a lot of food to eat.  Then people arrived.  In fact, over a third of the people that came, came for the first time.  I had invited them but did not know what would happen. 
Still there was plenty of food so I said go back for seconds, thirds, fourths, and fifths if you like.   A couple went back for seconds but I think that was as good as it got.  But I was not counting on a couple of guys I think are batching.  I gave them Chinese containers and said help yourself.  There was hardly anything left then.
It is my habit to have my playlist going through my phone.  While the guys were getting their food and I was outside talking with someone, my brother from the Sunshine Coast rang.  His voice went through the speaker so instead of a personal call it sounded out for all and sundry to hear.  I missed his call but corrected the situation.  He called back and when I told him what happened he said it was good he was on his best behaviour (Merri and I actually never have trouble with his behaviour anyway)
It actually all worked out well.  Now I just need to clean the BBQ.  I had determined not to do anything this week end I had not planned to do, but that is not happening.
