It seems idealistic or Pollyanna like.  I can’t believe I am sitting here thinking about it.  I shake my head in disbelief, but have a feeing that would only loosen my head before it changed anything.  I type and do not say what it is, in a desperate attempt to build the tension.  Thing is, I don’t know about you, but I am over it.  I already know and I want to know!
I am unsure what “whisper” font is, but that is the one I am using.  I seem to get a lot of satisfaction helping someone else achieve their goal.  There, I said it, and looking around not a lot seems to have changed.
Merril and I have joint goals we try to achieve.  We also have individual ones.  At the moment one of hers is tidying up the home.  One of mine is sleep.  Mine, I do not think is an inspiration for hers.  Hearing me snoring is probably not conducive to getting work done.  Still, I look at it as a strengthening exercise.  If Merril can tidy despite my soring, she will be able to remain focused through other things.  What I am doing is helping her.  Yeah, I’ll go with that.
Probably what I am talking about is no different to what I am seeing all around at the moment.  Someone said of 9/11 “The true legacy of 9-11 cannot be found among political leaders of the day, but in the citizen soldiers and public safety personnel who answered that day with courage and selflessness.”  This Covid-19 thing is bringing out the best and worst in people.
I can’t believe that people responded when the call went out for more doctors and nurses in the north of Italy because too many had died and there was now a shortfall.  There was no doubt a multitude of motives, but one of them I think was a willingness to put themselves in harms way for others.  No wonder first responders are getting a big clap across Europe.
It is not just in times of crisis we see good things.  Soldiers, paramedics, police respond every day to keep others safe.  They are helping others achieve their goal.  It makes me think of someone going about what they do, totally unaware of a fight going on outside, that lets them continue to do what they do.
It is not just people putting themselves in harms way that highlights a willingness to enable others to achieve their goal.  We saw it in the Brisbane floods.  An army of people responded to help others clean up.  Now a call has gone out to mobilize an army to help older people who may have trouble doing what many take for granted.
Merril and I are not part of an organized thing to help, but we do our bit.  In this time of isolation, we often contact others to make sure all is well.  We offer to do what needs to be done if we can, and it is needed.
Merril sent a card yesterday to an elderly person we know is isolated in their room in a nursing home.  I can think of few things worse than being truly alone at this time.
Helping someone else can be inconvenient.  I have places to go, things to do, people to see  n non Covid19 times).  I can’t help asking myself though, if I’m ok, shouldn’t I assist, if I can, someone who isn’t?  There is a time and place for everything, but sometimes helping someone else is the time and place.
