My Choice

I do not normally put stuff together from the email I get weekly from James Clear.  Yet this week there are things said in the sayings from him, the quotes from others and the question at the end.
He quoted C.S.Lewis today (who is one of my favourite authors) and I liked big time what was said. “"Good and evil both increase at compound interest. That is why the little decisions you and I make every day are of such infinite importance. The smallest good act today is the capture of a strategic point from which, a few months later, you may be able to go on to victories you never dreamed of. An apparently trivial indulgence in lust or anger today is the loss of a ridge or railway line or bridgehead from which the enemy may launch an attack otherwise impossible."
I am big on little.  I feel that lots of little make a big.  I really thought this was an interesting way of looking at it particularly in the light of the question asked at the end.  “There are two ways to grow: by adding or by shedding.  Do you need to add something, or do you need to shed something?
The good spoken of by C.S.Lewis is to me an example of adding. My nature is reflected in my actions.  Undone good is an opportunity wasted.  Yet as indicated it seems to me one good act can have on going implications.
It also seems that unless shed, “an apparently trivial indulgence in lust or anger today is the loss of a ridge or railway line or bridgehead from which the enemy may launch an attack otherwise impossible."
Spending time on good or evil is my choice and either way time lost is never regained.  The best I can hope for is that, according to a quote from him, “wisdom is the echo of experience."  I am yet to meet anyone who gets a kick out of getting something wrong.  Yet some learn from what they go through.
For me, the quicker I learn the quicker I go through.
