Apprentice

I am reading a book at the moment that talks about apprenticeship.  The point is made that being an apprentice is a great way to learn a trade.  When an apprentice the emphasis is not only on learning but doing.
One of the funniest movies I ever saw showed a guy who rehearsed a matter in his head.  It went perfectly.  Then it showed him actually doing the task and it was hilarious how it turned out.
I find that sort of thing all the time.  In my head the matter I have in mind is easy peasy.  Then when it comes to actually doing the task, I get it done, but generally the way is way more difficult than I imagined.  It may just be the time I take looking to find the piece I have in mind to use.
The whole point for me is doing can be very different than learning.   For me I may as well know nothing if I cannot translate what I know into what I do.
At the moment I feel very much like I am being deconstructed and put together differently.  The potential for the new structure is greater for sure, but being pulled apart and put back together is useful but not necessarily pleasant.  I say these days I feel like someone who has removed everything from the table and only puts back what is needful.
What got me thinking about this is an email I received from James Clear.  In it he said:
"Mastery is not only about getting better at your craft, but also about finding ways to eliminate the obstacles, distractions, and other annoyances that prevent you from working on your craft.
Top performers find ways to spend as much time as possible on what matters and as little time as possible on what doesn't. It is not someone else's responsibility to create the conditions for success.
You have to actively work to eliminate the things that don't matter from your workload. If you haven't figured out how to do that, you haven't mastered your craft."
For me it is about eliminating what might be considered good and replacing it with the best.  There are things I do, that, in reality, I am just wanting someone else to do because there are other things that really are me and what I love.
As is said “finding ways to eliminate the obstacles”  (things that so not add value to my desires) is not necessarily easy to do, but as far as I am concerned it is worth doing as I and others will be better off.
