Anthony Hopkins

Goodness knows where I saw it.  I do know it was on Facebook somewhere.  It was a story about Anthony Hopkins.  I thought he has been a wonderful actor.  He is getting long in the tooth now but this was something said my him in the story about him.
“I'm interested in human people. People who laugh at their mistakes are those who are successful, who understand their calling and don't hide from responsibility. Who defends human dignity and wants to be on the side of truth, justice, righteousness. This is what living is for.”
I did keep it because I like it.  I really like that he is interested in down to earth people.  Me too.  I am not attracted to pretence.  I like those willing to admit mistakes while going for it.  To me the most seemingly righteous person or the most reprobate person has a story of mistakes and perhaps victory.  No one benefits by pretence.  All benefit from honest review.  It is the way to grow.
I am a great one for admitting if I do not know something.  I remember distinctly on a couple of occasions fessing up that I did not know what was being said.  To me ignorance denied compounds.  It is funny but it is just the way I am.  As far as I am concerned looking silly is better than feeling silly.
Another thing he talks about is people who understand their calling and don’t hide from responsibility.  I do not know that I understand my calling but I do know I am working at it.  I am a work in progress.  I find that the picture for me becomes clearer as I go along.  A bit like a mist clearing bringing a clarity that was not once there.
As for responsibility I am very much a “the buck stops here” if it does stop there with me.  I know I need to own both victories and mistakes.
To me, not only is Anthony Hopkins a great actor, but he says some stuff I really like.
