Another Side of Life

I saw another side of life.  It is weird, but I hear about it and see in on the news but to talk to someone in their environment doing it is an eye opener.
It is not something I do regularly, but I was doing it for another who could not on this occasion.  I took some meals to someone living in a tent because they could not afford and did not have ready access to a home.
I am a wuss I know, but I needed to learn how to use a microwave I had never been exposed to before.  Such a first world problem.  Fortunately help was available in the form of someone who has prepared banquets for many.  It did not take long, and I had what I needed for the delivery.
Next was the challenge of finding the place.  I got mixed up with the directions and ended up heading away from the place.  I realized my mistake and found a place to turn around.  I had one more wrong turn into a housing park.  It did not look like the place I was after, so I again did a uturn.
This time I did some driving and found the place.  Signs saying what I was looking for helped.  That was a first timers’ error and I know where it is now.
I saw a tent sent up.  It was actually three tents.  I saw someone exercising a dog so I walked up and declared who I was looking for.  It was the right place.  Someone else they knew had set up a tent near them for security.
It was talking to the person that opened my eyes.    
It was a nice set up but not the place of choice.  They had registered with the council and as long as they are on council land they are free to stay there if they do not mess up the place.  They were not going to do that.
I really felt for them.  They are not slack, and doing all they can to get employment and get out of the current situation.  It seems to me unfortunately those with the power are captive to greed.  I personally would not like to have to buy a home or rent at the moment.  It seems so much is exorbitant and the problem is growing.
They were incredibly grateful for what they got. 
I got into my car, and am thankful that I am me and not in their shoes right now.
