Alone Time

I get the feeling it is a term used quiet a bit and I had just never heard it put this way.  Alone time.  As in time spent together to build a relationship.  Apparently it is common in the bonding of parents with children or for a couple.
I guess it could be a term to describe the building of any relationship.  It seems to me if I am with a group of people then it could never be described accurately as “alone time” with the person who may be the leader.  Alone time to me implies one on one.
Everyone needs alone time from time to time.  A time away from the hustle and bustle of life and the needs of others.  Time to recharge.  Time to regain perspective.  Time to come out equipped for what may be ahead.
I have planned alone time and unplanned alone time.  Planned is when I set aside some time without interaction with another human being.  It is done by mutual understanding.  I need mine and others need theirs.  There is also unplanned alone time.  Times when something prevents interaction with another.  This sort of thing I normally do under protest, but done for what is considered the greater good.
When I say that though I do not believe anyone is ever truly alone.  That implies to me that by shutting my door and creeping into the basement and going into the hidden compartment I would be alone.  I do not think that even then I am truly alone.  I am alone from interaction with other human beings for certain though.
I do question if any of us would ever want to be truly alone.  I reckon I would seek company quick smart.
An elderly couple were rescued from their roof cavity in Lismore.  They were only known about as their next door neighbours were being rescued from their rooftop and mentioned them.  I reckon they would have felt alone.  People getting buried alive in a box would feel alone or cut off from other humans.
I do not need to feel abandoned by other humans but I do need time out occasionally.  It is the reason I insist on having a day off whether I think I need it or not.  It is also the reason I steal away for a while on a daily basis.  If I thought it was wrong I would attempt to alter the behaviour but I know it does me good and it does others good.  It is alone time.  It is building a relationship.
