All in several weeks work

It is closer now than it has been.
We needed to get work done on a Granny flat.  Extensive work.  It could have been worse.  Initially we were looking at a scenario of flood water having destroyed the whole floor and it all needing replacing.
Turned out (and we only knew this when the flooring was being removed) that the damage was limited.  A toilet had had a really slow leak which eventually caused the floor to give way.  It was definitely not a good look seeing the ground through  hole in the floor of the bathroom.
The people that had been renting the place were leaving anyway (they needed to – there were four staying in a place built for one or two).  We knew we needed to get the work done but who to get?  We put it out there and one fella said, “I am interested but cannot do it for 6 months.”  Workers are hard to get right now.
Turns out we got a guy.  He had been due to go to Cambodia but the job he had been on took longer than he thought.  He had no desire to be there in the rainy season so was available for an immediate start.  We read the reviews of his companies work and were satisfied he was a good one to get.
We increased the scope of the work after he started and were satisfied with the quote s we have been watching each step of the way.  Thus far we are very pleased.  He would present ideas to us and they made so much sense we were happy to embrace them and have continued to be pleased with the results.
Today we go and check out where they are at now.  Th home is finished and the deck and fencing is started.  The walkway is being considered now.  We are keen for handover as there is someone ready to move in when it is finished.  Knowing what I know I would be too.  In many ways it is like a new granny flat as all wiring has been checked and fixes done where necessary.
I used to live there and loved it.
We actually would like it finished soon as we are going on holidays.  Yet what is most important to us is that it is done properly rather than in a hurry.
So far so good.
