Agendas
Someone was talking to me about the Millennium Prayer by Cliff Richard.  They were saying how much they enjoyed it.  I do remember that song coming out.  I read how Cliff Richard wanted to do it, and his record label said no it won’t sell.  So he formed his own company and did it, and it did really well.
It reminded me of something that will sound like conspiracy theories, but looking around has borne it out for me.
It is like there are agenda’s and so often we do not play the game.  Pollsters get it wrong.  They say it will go one way and it goes the other.  Shows on tv highlight one way and people act differently.
I remember one person saying heaps, and all that was published was something they said that was quoted out of context, and it changed the whole meaning.  What was said did not fit the agenda being pushed.  It was decided to publish something that was said to give the agenda credibility, and never mind that it made it mean something totally different
There are some that willingly embrace an agenda.  It is their world view.  They are in the bag.  No need to be concerned about them.  Some are against the agenda and no amount of persuasion will work.  They are a lost cause.
It is those that have not made up their mind that are worked on.  Say something long and loud enough and eventually a person’s resistance is lowered.  I do not have a problem with someone being hot about something or cold on it.    I have the most trouble dealing with someone who is neither hot or cold.
With them, I really do not know where I stand. It is like they say yes to something and then change their minds or say no outright and then exhibit a yes.  I find that hard to deal with.  To me it is like they are a wave driven this way and that by the wind.  I can get neither excited or disappointed, as anything said is more a matter of convenience than conviction.
I was reading about the queen.  I was not looking at the politic of the position.  It was said by the author who got to spend heaps of time with her, that from childhood the importance of one’s word was emphasized as important.
It is to me to.   I may be slow to say yes, but when I do, I have considered it and decided it is a goer for me.  Sometimes that can be to my detriment.  The other night Merril and I were going up to the table tennis club to say hi.  I had my playing hand bandaged where a cancer had been removed.  I forgot about it and said yes when asked to sub.
If I had remembered I would not have said yes.  But I had, so I took all reasonable precautions and played.  This is definitely something I was not born with but have learned along the way.  The team still went down in a screaming heap, but I managed to play my bit to help us win a doubles (there are times for sure when even if yes is said by mistake, a no should be pursued.  This was not one of those times).
I guess like everyone, I have an agenda.  It is to do the right thing by others.  I know I would want others to do the right thing by me.
