A Rest by Golly

I was determined that yesterday would be a rest day.  Merril and I still had plenty to do but physical work was out.  We went to church in the morning which we love and in the afternoon I had a board meeting to attend.  Before that though was lunch and a sleep.
For lunch we always get fish from across the road from our church.  The owner was putting a promotional video on his web site had asked me to say a few words.  I had done so a few weeks ago and he told me yesterday the video had been uploaded and was available to view.  I have not looked yet but it is something I hope to do today.
We had done so much on the Saturday.  Convincing myself that I am too old for this does not seem to work.  Merril had things to do like giving the car a good clean.  And when Merril does a clean it is a clean.  Recently she mowed the lawn and I saw a couple of leaves of grass standing upright.  I thought I am not going to do anything about them as Merril will not be able to live with that.  I was right.  I think she used scissors to deal with them.
I had one area between our green house and shed that still looked wild.  It had trees growing in it, and hindered our access to cleaning the back of our shed (the one we call “the studio.”)  Ok trees might be a bit flattering, but they were trees (about 6 foot tall).  Young trees mind.  Three of them.  They got progressively harder to get out.  The first came out easily.  The second was harder but gave up in the end.  The third required much digging around, cutting, and three soakings.
I finally got it out, but it was a battle of attrition that I won in the end.
Really all that meant was I was ready to lay down shade cloth, weed mat and lay stones.  That would enable free access to us for cleaning the leaves out behind the shed.
I cleaned out the back of the shed and put down what was needed.  I then went and got stones to put down.  I am a chronic counter.  I raked up stones and then counted to 65 double hand full of stones put into a wheelbarrow I was using.  I did that three times and it was enough to cover the area I had in mind.
There is a reason the stones were available but that is whole other story.  Needless to say really I was pretty cactus by the end and after a tidy up I was ready to call it quits and go and do something else we had committed to.
So Sunday had been deemed a rest day and by golly we were going to have it.
