A Good Day

Yesterday was like a “plan not to fail” days because we did not fail to plan. Merril and I knew we had things to do. The best way to make it happen, was to make a list.

The first thing was unwritten but a given. A leisurely start. We are sort of good at that. We’ve been practicing.

After that was a trip to Containers for Cash. I got everything together and put it in the car. I have two types of bags. Big plastic ones for the plastic bottles and cans and freezer bags for bottles. (They provide more protection should the bag or bottle be dropped). I put thigs in those containers as they are received so when it comes to cashing in time we are like a military operation. We cash in the containers and put the money straight into the account to which it is going. We could cross that off the list.

After that we had some things we wanted to do at the church we go to. After coffee and cake we were ready to start. Merril ended up doing what we needed done and I set up for our market on Wednesday. I provided more tables and chairs to sit at and have a coffee while waiting for the food pantry to open. The arrangement works well. People sit drinking coffee and chatting and wander over to the market stall. Everything is a gold coin donation to the pantry. There are real bargains. Another thing off the list.

After that we were doing a letter box drop. It actually took way less time than we thought it would. It was really satisfying to get it done.

Then we had to bank. There was a queue, so we stood in line. We got to talking to the guy in front of us. He had spent ages in New Guinea. He loved fishing. His dad was a marlin fisherman and ran a timber mill. He had a Panthers cap on but liked my team which are the Cowboys (because it is the closest place to New Guinea.) We got the banking done and the queueing went quickly due to the conversation. The list was getting smaller.

There were a few items to get from a couple of shops for the cleaning we do of a Friday so we got them. It sure was good to deal with another thing on the list.

All that remained to do was drop off the supplies and go home. As we were dropping off the supplies I got an unexpected phone call. Something large I had ordered from Melbourne had arrived and would be delivered in 15 minutes. It was far easier than I thought to get inside.

We were on a roll and then did some work at home. It was a good day. We went methodically through the list. It feels good to cross things off
