A Day in the Life

A Day in the Life
Weird day today.  Merril and I followed our custom of going someplace at 6am to pray.  We did that and inspected the outside of the joint which was fine.  Merril stayed on as a workman was coming and she was to meet him.  I came home.
There was a heap to do here.  We had had a big weekend.  On Saturday we had 12 over and a bbq.  Sunday we celebrated Thanksgiving with Merril’s family.  Tuesday evening people come here and Wednesday we are having a bbq and watching the game.  In the morning we are getting a dryer.  There should be 11 of us for the footy.  Friday I get a cancer cut out.  It is all happening. (that is not mentioning other regular things).
But today it was like I was on auto pilot.  Some days it is like everything is going well, and it seems ideas are coming thick and fast.  What I try works first time.  Other days are the exact opposite.
Today was somewhere in between.  It was ok.  Not, (as the English say), brilliant.  It was not all bad.  I had volunteered to cook for State of Origin.  I was so not looking forward to that.  I was wondering what to do.  Then I had an idea I could live with. I though I will bbq.  Using this new found skill of mine of bbqing.  I even got given an apron for cooking as a Christmas present.  We have unopened stuff from the weekend which will be good to use.
It was a bit scary on the weekend.  Our bbq is a local knowledge thing to start.  I was not the one bbqing but I agreed to start the bbq.  It would not start.  I admit I was praying.  When asked if it had started I said, “no but it will.”  That was a hope.  It started much to my relief.  Sort of reminds me of the time I decided to be the lawn mower man.  I had a job lined up.  When I went there the mower would not work.  I am so dumb when it comes to mechanical stuff.  I knew I was never going to get it going.  I prayed.  The next door neighbour called out over the fence and came over.  He got it going thank goodness.
I got a piece of good news during the day.  I had a phone call from a person who had been devastated.  A mile of test had revealed something suspicious.  They had one more nuclear scan on Friday.  I asked to know the results.  They rang and told me it was good news.  I admit we wept together, and I went inside as a bloke shedding a tear is not often seen.
Anyway it is evening now and I have survived the day.  It has been real muggy.  But the air con is going and tonight I am going to use one of my super powers and have a good veg.
